Privacy Policy

Alumni for Public Schools is brought to you by The Fund for Public Schools. The Fund for Public Schools, Inc. (“The Fund”) is committed to safeguarding donors’ privacy. Please read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use carefully. The Fund may need to change the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use from time to time in order to address new issues and reflect changes on the nycgrads.org web site (“Site”). Any changes to the privacy policy will be posted here.

 

The Fund does not require you to register or to provide information to us in order to view our site. The Fund only collects personally identifiable information, such as name or postal/e-mail addresses, about any individual web site user when the information is knowingly provided by such user. For example, we may ask you for personally identifiable information when you make a contribution or participate in activities. This information is used solely by The Fund or affiliated entities who are involved in the operation of this site to process donations and for internal purposes. 

 

The Fund will only share personally identifiable information with third parties when (i) the person submitting the information authorizes The Fund to share it; (ii) sharing the information is a necessary operation of the site, for instance, to process a credit card transaction, or (iii) The Fund is required to by law. The Fund will not sell, share or trade a donor’s personal information with anyone else, nor send donors mailings on behalf of other organizations.

 

The Fund may include a donor’s name and the size range of any gift of $5,000 or more on the donor list in The Fund’s annual report, unless the donor requests the gift remain anonymous. Excluding such donor lists, The Fund will seek prior approval from donors before including their names in public remarks, press releases, and/or other documents made available to the public or before sharing any other information about the donor.

 

The Fund reserves the right to use “cookies” on its site. Cookies are computer programs that store information about web pages a user has visited on a computer hard drive or disk. Information stored includes, but may not be limited to, the date and time a user visits the site and information about the user’s activities while online. Any information gathered is obtained solely for the purpose of improving The Fund’s Site and tracking user traffic patterns throughout the Site.

 

Persons under 18 years of age are welcome to learn about The Fund on the Site. Minors should not, however, provide any personally identifiable information without their parent’s permission. In addition, you must be at least 18 years of age to make a donation to The Fund. Special notices to minors regarding donations and urging them to get parental permission before providing any personally identifiable information are incorporated into the Site.

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Fund makes no warranties of any kind, either express or implied, that the functions or the services provided by or through The Fund system will be error-free or without defect. The materials and information provided at the Site are provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties of any kind to the full extent permissible pursuant to applicable laws.

 

The Fund will not be responsible for any damage users may suffer, including but not limited to, loss of data or interruptions of service. The Fund is not responsible for the accuracy or quality of the information obtained through or stored on the system.

 

The Fund will not be responsible for financial obligations arising from a user’s unauthorized use of the system. Users will indemnify and hold The Fund and its affiliates harmless from any losses sustained by The Fund or the user as a result of intentional misuse of the system by user.

The Site may contain links to other Internet sites on the World Wide Web. The Fund provides such links for your convenience only, and is not responsible for the content of any site linked to or from this Site. Links from this Site to any other site do not mean that The Fund approves of, endorses or recommends that Site. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, as to the accuracy, legality, reliability or validity of any content on any other Site. Any claims a user might have against The Fund with respect to such other sites is hereby waived.

Social Media Customer Use Policy

The Fund for Public Schools (The Fund) seeks to maintain an open forum for questions and discussion on its social media websites while maintaining a standard of decorum. Please be aware that when engaging with The Fund over social media, you are agreeing to the following policies:

 

Commenting on The Fund’s Social Media Sites:

The Fund shares information, images, and video with the public through external social media websites. Comments made by the public to these sites are reviewed and, while comments will not be edited by Fund personnel, comments may be deleted if they violate the comment policy described below:

 

■ Comments should be related to the posted topic for The Fund’s social media page or post. The Fund’s social media accounts are not meant for comments that do not directly relate to the purpose or topic of the social media website. For general comments, communications, or questions concerning The Fund, please email info@fundforpublicschools.org.

■ You are subject to the Terms of Service (TOS) of the host website. Information (photos, videos, etc.) you share with or post to The Fund’s pages is also subject to the TOS of the host site and may be used by the owners of the host site for their own purposes. For more information, consult the host website's TOS.

■ You participate in The Fund’s social media sites at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your user name, and any information provided. Please do not post personal information such as phone numbers and addresses.

■ The Fund’s social media accounts are not open to comments promoting or opposing any person campaigning for election to a political office, or promotion or advertisement of a business or commercial transaction.

■ The use of obscene, threatening or harassing language is prohibited.

■ Personal attacks of any kind or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, age, or religious group, gender, sexual orientation or disability status are prohibited.

■ Comments intended to defame any organization are prohibited.

■ Comments advocating illegal activity or posting of material that violates copyrights or trademarks of others are prohibited.

■ Comments expressed on The Fund’s social media websites do not reflect the opinions and position of The Fund for Public Schools or its officers and employees.

■ This comment policy is subject to amendment or modification at any time.

 

User-Created Content:

Users are welcome to submit or post content, including photographs and videos, to a Fund site where The Fund allows users to post content, the content meets the standards articulated in this Customer Use Policy, and the content pertains to the subject of the social media site. Users may only post their own, original content. Reproduced or borrowed content that reasonably appears to violate third party rights will be deleted.

Trademarks

THE ALUMNI FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS and all related marks are service marks or trademarks of The Fund for Public Schools, Inc. They may not be used or displayed without our prior written consent. All other trademarks, product names and company names and logos appearing on the Site are the property of their respective owners, and may be used only with the permission of the particular owner.

Termination of Service

The Fund may modify or discontinue the information included in or access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time for any reason without prior notice.

Assignment

The Fund may assign certain of its rights and responsibilities for the Site to another governmental entity, independent contractors or other third parties.

Changes to the Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

The Fund may alter and/or amend the Privacy Policy/Terms of Use at any time with notice to users. Any such alterations or amendments shall be posted to the Site. Continued use of the Site after you have been notified of any changes indicates your acceptance of the changes.

Governing Law

Use of the Site shall be governed by all applicable federal and New York State laws.
